Edinburgh Giants is a charitable organisation that provides inclusive sports opportunities for disabled and non-disabled people. We deliver sport, physical activity and health and wellbeing focussed on increasing participation levels throughout Edinburgh and the surrounding area.
​At the Giants we are driven by our charitable purposes of:

The advancement of of public participation in sport for adults and children;

The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the the facilities or activities are primarily intended and

The advancement of health.
Is the Trustee role voluntary?
Yes. All of our board of Trustees dedicate their time, skills and experience on a voluntary basis. This is standard practice for a charity.
What does the Trustee role involve doing?
Along with the other members of the board of Trustees you would be responsible for ensuring that the charity acts in accordance with company and charity law through effective governance. You'd also ensure that the work that we do is in line with our charitable purposes.
How often does the Board meet?
Quarterly. However we also have sub-committees meetings that some Trustees are members of to offer their skills and experience.
What is expected of me between meetings?
Ensuring that you keep up to date with the current landscape of the charity by reviewing any documentation, papers or risks / issues that are highlighted. This will ensure you are best prepared for each meeting and provide adhoc support as required.
What skills or experience do I need?
We consider all applications, however it would be great if you have a vested interest in sport, physical activity, health & wellbeing and have drive and energy to create something truly special here at the Giants. We are keen to hear from people with Disability Law, HR, Recruitment, Governance, Safeguarding & Welfare or previous charity management experience.
